We are so happy to see guests back at The Hale Pau Hana! Many are long-time ‘ohana and others are here for their first time. But they all share one thing in common — they take incredible photos! This week we wanted to share a day in the life at Hale Pau Hana through the eyes of our ‘ohana. All these photos are from recent visits, so sit back, turn on some classic island music, and spend a day with us in paradise.
Starting your day in the laid-back beach town of Kihei on Maui's south shore offers a blend of serene natural beauty and vibrant community life. Waking up with the birds to the gentle lapping of waves at Kamaole Beach Park II, just a stone's throw from your beach condo, sets the tone for a day filled with sunshine and saltwater. The area is renowned for its beautiful beaches like Keawakapu Beach and the family-friendly atmosphere of Kalama Park, featuring tennis courts, beach volleyball courts, and picnic areas, ensuring your beach days are filled with fun activities and relaxation.
As the sun climbs higher, South Kihei Road becomes a bustling hub of activity, with visitors and locals alike exploring the unique shops at Kihei Kalama Village or grabbing a bite at popular spots like Kihei Caffe. The central location of our resort offers easy access to some of South Maui's most beautiful beaches, including Sugar Beach and the vibrant underwater world of Molokini Crater, making it the perfect spot for snorkeling and whale watching during whale season. By evening, the southwest shores of Maui transform into a picturesque setting for beachside dinners, with the Maui Brewing Company providing craft beers to complement fresh fish tacos, rounding off a day that perfectly encapsulates the essence of a holiday in Kihei. Let's explore a day at the life at The Hale Pau Hana.
There are many familiar sounds around the property in the morning. The gentle lapping of waves along the shoreline, the quiet shuffle of chairs getting set up for some serious lounging, and of course, the doves. Always a sign that the sun is about to break through, you know it’s time for that first cup of coffee on the lawn when you hear the birds cooing!

The early hours at Kamaole Beach Park II are perfect for snorkeling, paddle boarding, and taking a walk. From end to end, Kamaole Beach II is the perfect length for a casual morning adventure, and you are almost guaranteed to see turtles and several varieties of fish. If you are one of the lucky ones, an octopus or eel might even cross your path. And during whale season there is absolutely nothing like ducking under water, holding your breath, and hearing them call across the sea. Maui is magical under the water!

When the beach is just steps from your kitchen, hopping out of the water and grabbing a bite to eat is pretty easy. You don’t even have to put on your shoes! And if you end up taking a little mid-morning nap on the lanai while looking for whales we promise not to tell. ;-)

We know it’s hard to leave the property when you have the best beach right out your door and the best views from your lanai, but Maui is pretty incredible and at some point you’ll give in! Hiking, shopping, dining out, historical sights, cultural tours… you name it, this island has it! The only questions you’ll have to answer are what to do first, and where to stop for lunch.

There’s a saying around here, “Everyone has their favorite lounger!” Poolside or oceanside, in the sun or in the shade, there is room for everyone to settle in for a lazy afternoon.

The sun is hovering over the ocean, the first cocktails of the evening are getting stirred, and the smell of something delicious is making your mouth water. It must be dinnertime at HPH! There’s no better way to end a day like this than to gather around for a good meal while the sun goes down. Then it’s time to rest up so you can do it all again tomorrow!
